Sick leave must be reported within 7 days

An employer must report sickness cases that entitle the employee to sick pay to the Swedish Social Insurance Agency, if the sick period and employment continue after the end of the sick pay period. The employer's report must be made within seven calendar days from this point in time.

The report must include:

  • The employer's organization number
  • The personal identity number or coordination number
  • The employee's personal identity number or coordination number
  • The date when the sick pay period started in accordance with Section 12 of the Sick Pay Act (Sjuklönelagen)

Furthermore, an employee who is absent from work due to sickness must report it to the employer (AD 2009 no. 34) in accordance with Section 8 of the Sick Pay Act.
